A 2026 guide to Round Rock ISD, Leander ISD, charter schools, private schools, Montessori programs and preschool options near Brushy Creek, Texas
If schools are part of your home search in Brushy Creek, there is one thing you should know before you start looking at houses:
Brushy Creek is not served by just one school district.
Depending on the exact property, a home may fall within Round Rock ISD or Leander ISD. Families also have access to a surprisingly broad selection of tuition-free charter schools, private schools, classical programs, Montessori schools and early-childhood programs throughout Brushy Creek, Cedar Park, Round Rock and Northwest Austin.
That means two homes that both appear in a search for “Brushy Creek” can have completely different school assignments.
This guide covers the major school options within a practical drive of Brushy Creek for the 2026–27 school year.
Important: School attendance boundaries, feeder patterns and enrollment policies can change. Always verify the assigned campuses for an individual property directly with the school district before making a housing decision.
First: Brushy Creek Spans Two School Districts
A large portion of Brushy Creek is served by Round Rock Independent School District, while neighborhoods farther west toward Cedar Park, including areas around The Ranch at Brushy Creek, can fall within Leander Independent School District.
That distinction matters when you're searching for a home.
You can't reliably determine a child's assigned school based on the words “Brushy Creek,” “Round Rock” or “Cedar Park” in a listing. The specific street address is what matters.
Round Rock ISD Schools Near Brushy Creek
Several Round Rock ISD campuses are located in or immediately around the Brushy Creek area.
Among the schools buyers are most likely to encounter are:
Elementary
Brushy Creek Elementary
Great Oaks Elementary
Fern Bluff Elementary
Cactus Ranch Elementary
Middle School
Cedar Valley Middle School
Walsh Middle School
Chisholm Trail Middle School
High School
Round Rock High School
Some RRISD middle-school attendance areas split into other high-school feeder patterns, making address verification especially important.
RRISD's current vertical-learning-community information shows, for example, that Cedar Valley Middle School is split between Round Rock High and McNeil High, while Walsh Middle School is primarily within the Round Rock High feeder pattern with a portion feeding Stony Point.
Brushy Creek Elementary
Located at 3800 Stonebridge Drive, Brushy Creek Elementary serves Pre-K through fifth grade and sits right within the Brushy Creek community.

RRISD specifically identifies its feeder path as Cactus Ranch Elementary → Walsh Middle School → Round Rock High School.
Cactus Ranch Elementary School

One detail worth knowing: Cedar Valley is currently a split feeder school. RRISD lists approximately 60% of the campus in the Round Rock High learning community and approximately 40% in the McNeil High learning community.
That is exactly why it's risky to assume the eventual high school from the name of the elementary or middle school alone.
Walsh Middle School
Walsh Middle School also serves portions of western Round Rock near Brushy Creek.
RRISD currently lists Walsh as an 80% Round Rock High / 20% Stony Point High split feeder.
Chisholm Trail Middle School
Chisholm Trail Middle School is another campus that appears in the Round Rock High learning community and may be relevant to homes east and north of portions of Brushy Creek.
Its feeder pattern is also split, reinforcing the importance of checking the exact property address.
Round Rock High School

So Which Brushy Creek Neighborhood Goes to Which School?
This is the question most buyers want answered.
And unfortunately, giving you a simple chart that says:
Brushy Creek North → School A → School B → School C
would create a false sense of certainty.
School boundaries don't always follow subdivision boundaries. A neighborhood can be close to more than one campus, feeder patterns can split, and attendance boundaries can change over time.
Instead, once you find a property you like:
Verify the address with the district.
Then check all three levels individually:
Elementary → Middle → High School
This is particularly important in Brushy Creek because the area crosses the Round Rock ISD / Leander ISD divide.
Charter School? Apply Before You Assume
Charter schools work differently.
Living five minutes from BASIS, Valor or Meridian does not mean a student automatically attends that school.
For example, Valor states that families apply directly and may receive an offer or a waitlist position depending on availability. Meridian also uses an annual admissions lottery and waitlist process.
If a charter school is a significant part of your moving decision, research its admissions calendar early.
Looking Beyond School Ratings
It can be tempting to look at the number beside a school on a real estate portal and make your decision from there.
A rating is only one data point.
Depending on your household, you may care more about:
Academic programs
Gifted-and-talented services
Special education resources
Fine arts
Athletics
STEM programs
Language programs
Class size
Transportation
Before- and after-school care
Extracurricular activities
Educational philosophy
Campus culture
Visit the official school website. Tour the campus when tours are available. Ask about the programs that matter specifically to your student.
Your research should determine which school fits your household — not a single rating on a real estate website.
Moving to Brushy Creek?
This is one of the reasons Brushy Creek home searches can become complicated quickly.
You're not choosing from one subdivision with one set of schools.
You're comparing established communities across Round Rock and Cedar Park with different home styles, HOAs, amenities, municipal services — and sometimes completely different school districts.
At Hoyden Homes, we can help you narrow down the homes, neighborhoods, locations and current real estate market, while you use the district and individual school resources to determine which educational options meet your household's needs.
That combination can turn a very broad Brushy Creek search into a much more manageable list of homes to explore.
